This centre is located in the slums of Kibera and provides formal education from Standard One through Form Two to over 300 children along with food, guidance and counseling and medical care. Parents and guardians are empowered through a self-help group facilitated by the school’s social worker, which trains members in micro-financing and HIV and AIDS awareness.

Eastleigh Training Centre

Eastleigh Training Centre

Situated in the Eastlands of Nairobi, this boarding center is for 25 boys ages 14-18 who have undergone rehabilitation in other centers and received formal or non-formal education.

Here the boys are trained in self-sustaining skills such as carpentry, masonry and motor vehicle mechanics for a period of two years after which they sit for the national trade examination.

Eastleigh Training Centre

UPDATE DEC 2007: the school in Eastleigh has had to close because the structure of the building has become unsafe. New premises are being found, and the school will hopefully reopen in 2008. Alternative training and accomodation for several students from Eastleigh has been arranged at a school near Meru.
